Additional Information:

Fishing for wild rainbows on this mighty, fast flowing Grand River in Canada is very different from the trout I am used to pursuing in the cultivated trout dams in South Africa. One very distinct difference is the temp (was about -2 Celsius) and I experienced a problem I haven't had before which was that my eye holes on my rod kept freezing up! Anybody with any solutions for this problem are welcome to comment. I was thinking of using Vaseline maybe... I've attached a pic’s of the place I was fishing, don't have one of the fish as I was alone and after a 10 min battle with this monster 10lbs trout on a 5lbs tippet, in heavy current, a quick release was necessary.

Hey Dude!

Sounds like you had some great fun out there, looks really impressive. Pity you couldn't get any pics of your fish though. Recon you need to invest in a capcam so you dont have these problems in future!

As for your issue regarding the eyes getting frozen up. I dont think there is a solution to this. I would imagine that whatever you put on them isnt the problem, its the water. Sure you could use vaseline, but whats to say it wont freeze too? Plus, what is greasing your line going to do to the performance and handling of the line?

I think you have a big problem there. I shall also look to see if there are any solutions about but in my logic I dont see a solution to stopping it.

I am seriously impressed with the new site Man. It really looks interesting and good, Pity I couldn't help out with it.

Hope all is well your side and you are all settled and enjoying yourself.

Capcam

Thanks bud, for the feedback. Don't stress about things as you can help now with adding lots of good content.

Capcam?? humm... maybe a RodCam would be a be idea :) the person who invents that will get one sale out of me. This way I can take a pic of myself and my catch as well as use it to find those elusive little guys hiding behind the rocks.

Till later, keep the vaal river and yellow’s catch reports coming please… really missing those good old summer days on the water there catching those feisty yellows.

Peace and tight lines my friend!
