Fishing on the banks of the Elephant river
Well where to start ,coming from jhb it takes about 1h30m to get there at a speed of about 160 km/h ,I didn't do that speed so it took me 2 and an half hours to get there.keeping in mind that there's always someone under the bridges on the N12 and N4 .Apart from the drive everything was great.
This was one of the best weekends i had in a long time.I took my kit and my wife to leselo bush lodge( i know the name doesn't make any sense seeing i was on the banks of the river and fishing was allowed at a bush lodge ) anyways for valentines day. We arrived the Friday afternoon at about 2pm and started unpacking. i have to say that within the first hour of our arrival i spotted a croc about 4m in length floating down the river.(that wasn't going to stop me )
Anyways to cut things short i started fishing at about 4pm in the evening and within 5 minutes i got my first runner .I estimate it was about 8 kg's seeing i didn't have a scale .After that i could only manage to get a whole bunch of smaller one's in the range of 1 to 4 kg's .
The next day saw me going to find worms in Groblersdal .I started of with more small barbel and finally caught a small bass and then came the biggest barbel i've ever caught ,i estimated it at about 12 kg's . I have to say that after about 20 minutes of fighting with me i finally landed the beast. There was nobody there to help me out as my wife was busy with food for the evening and preparing snacks for the rugby game (bulls Fan) so i did the only thing i could think of and that was to carry the monster all the way back to the lodge (fine it was about 40 m to the front door but that thing was heavy).now for a quick sales pitch : The lodge was great the river is packed with fish and yes i will go back, the lodges site is www.leselo.com lol and that was my great weekend on the banks of the elephant river.I also heard there are Kurper and bass and carp and basically any species that is found in the loskop dam.
BTW MY wife wasn't a slave ,she decided to rather stay inside and watch tv .(she doesn't like fishing)

thanks for the awesome post and read
