Conditions were fantastic for getting my flies wet! Partly cloudy, outside temp about 25 degrees c, water temp at about 20 degrees c and water viz clear. In my search for trout I came across a school of carp feeding in a slow section of the river and decided to present a fly or two at them. After about 20min I was about to give up when I noticed one of carp sucking in my fly and the exhaling it. Realising that I have missed the opportunity, I started to pay attention to the slack on my line the honed in to get a better feel of my line. A few casts later - Fish On!
One of my goals is to attempt to catch as many different types of indigenous fish species as possible on fly and the Grand River has no shortage of different species to target. My next specie on fly quest, will be to lure a Gar Pike into taking one of my flies - landing them I believe is another story!
Enjoy the vid :)
